The Alpha and the Omega- with Brian Harris

With Christmas almost upon us, we are looking at some of the names given to Jesus. I love the one you find in Rev 1:8 “I am the alpha and the omega”. While that has a nice ring to it, it actually points to something more. Alpha is the first letter in the Greek alphabet (the second is beta – so alphabeta – alphabet) – and the last letter is omega. So when we are told that Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega we are being told that he is the first and the last – there at the beginning of everything, there at the end of everything. In short, we are never without Jesus.

I can’t begin to tell you how much that delights me. It is the reassurance that when I look at my life I can say, “Jesus, you were there at my beginning. You will be there at my end. And you are with me every step of the way.” Jesus, you who are the alpha and omega, thank you that we are never without you.
