In 2007 Vose Leadership was launched, providing development opportunities for healthy ministry and Christian leadership. At its core sits the Intentional Relationships Program (IRP). The IRP is a hub where ministers and other Christian leaders can find coaches, mentors and supervisors under the umbrella of Vose Seminary. Coaching has been popular for denominational groups seeking development for individuals or groups. Its pragmatic goals orientation has much to offer. We predict, however, that Supervision and Mentoring will have a greater role in the post the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse era. To this end we have gathered a team of excellent supervisors, many of whom are excellent coaches and sought after mentors. Each one is experienced, trained and supervised.

The life of faith and its offspring, the formation of contagious reproducing faith in others, is the core of ministry practice. The requirements of ministry also include difficult social demands, loud consumer appetites, and attention to both internal and external accountabilities in governance and professional practice. The systemic complexity of ministry practice is profound. To think that living our faith in ministry life is a simple matter is naïve.

Christian Scharen calls for rigorous inquiry, a kind of craft, to be developed as we seek to engage this very human and divine task of faithful service, a faith lived out in our practices.

Vitality of Christian faith today does not – and does – depend on us… How do we understand the complexity of this beautiful and broken world? My argument is that the task of understanding requires a careful, disciplined craft for inquiry – a craft I call fieldwork in theology – if one seeks both to claim knowledge of divine action and to discern an appropriate response. (Christian Scharen)

Getting involved with what God is doing is the core value which runs through both disciplines of Supervision and Mentoring. They both seek to engage with others, to foster a long, strong, faithful service in the ministers who participate in them.
