Firstborn of all creation: with Cate Vose

Throughout Advent, we have been reflecting on the different titles of Jesus. In Paul’s letter to the Colossians, he tells us that Jesus was the firstborn of all creation and goes on to say; “for by him, all things were created – all things were created through him and for him.” What we learn from this passage, is that Jesus was the blueprint of all creation; which is pretty incredible when you think about it. It can be easy at this time of year, to dismiss the Christmas story as just being for religious people. However, when we consider that the Person we celebrate at Christmas was the road-map for the mountains, the anchor for the waves, the recipe for the sweetness of the honey in the comb, the and the music for the majesty of the stars in the night sky; it causes us to step back and wonder if perhaps everybody isn’t invited into this story? The song that all of creation sings is an anthem of praise to the One through whom, and by whom, we live and breathe and have our being. May you encounter this mystery in fresh ways this Christmas.
